Trattoria Alla Rivetta

Previously, Alla Rivetta was a cheap, unpretentious, but cozy trattoria located on the busy tourist walkway from the piazza San Marco to Campo San Zaccaria, known for its menu featuring a variety of dishes made from seafood. Local sardines are especially popular: they are caught nearby in the waters of the lagoon. The most famous dishes are Sarde in saor — sardines in a sweet and sour marinade — and risotto topped with cuttlefish ink (Al nero di seppia) — a black dish with a delicate flavor.
The restaurant was recently renovated, giving the interior a respectable and fresh look. White tablecloths and new restaurant-style lighting fixtures have been added. However, you can still choose your dish from the display case, and they still serve cicchetti — small sandwiches, which Joseph Brodsky was particularly fond of. This was one of the addresses he recommended to his friend an American geologist Peter Vail in Venice.
